Snowboards

Snowboard

If you're wearing your soggy trainers and have a big ball of string ready to go then your next step is to grab a plank of wood, put the three together and woo-hoo you're snowboarding. badly, out of control, freezing feet and probably not enjoying it very much.

So if you've invested in snowboard boots and snowboard bindings you're 2/3rds of the way there. Snowboards come in all different widths, lengths, styles and have different flexibilities.

Again, a good shop should be able to give you all the advice you need, but here are a few pointers.

The first thing to find to decide is what you want to use the snowboard for. Will you want it purely for doing tricks in the park, riding down mountains or a mixture? For your first board and all round board you would be best to look at a freeride board.

The length of the snowboard is largely down to your ability, your weight and your height.

Some people will determine the snowboard length by measuring it against you to see where on your face it comes up to, normally they will check it comes up to somewhere between your chin and your eyebrows. This is wrong, make sure they ask your weight and ability as well.
