Snowboard Goggles

Snowboarding Goggles

It's a good idea to get yourself some snowboarding goggles. They will protect your eyes from the damaging ultraviolet rays from the sun and reduce the reflection and glare from the snow.

Snowboard goggles will also protect your face and eyes from sun burn and wind burn and prevent snow and ice getting in your eyes.

You may see some people out on the slope wearing sunglasses, which are fine... if you are sitting outside a cafe with your snowboard! If you're hurtling down the piste and catch an edge and fall then the chances are your sunglasses wont be in one piece anymore.

Sunglasses will let wind and snow in round the sides which will sting, make your eyes water and reduce your visibility to zero!

I'm Misting Up!

One big problem with snowboard goggles is their tendency to mist up. Misting up occurs when the heat from your face hits the lens, which is cool on the outside from the climate.

To prevent misting you should look out for the following features :
Multiple lenses
Anti-fogging chemicals
Vents to allow fresh cool air in

Rose Tinted Snowboarding Goggles

Snowboard goggles usually come with the ability to change the lenses, and it can be useful to keep a couple of sets of lenses for different conditions.

Green - Helps with contrast - useful for sunny conditions
Gold - Suitable for most conditions, especially low light and cloudy
Black/Polarized - Reduces glare, good to use in bright sunny conditions

The following companies are the most popular brands of snowboarding goggles :
Burton
Bonfire
Oakley
Dainese
Volcom
686
Billabong
