Snowboarding Bindings

Snowboard bindings are used to connect you (via your snowboard boots) to your snowboard.

Snowboarding Bindings

Snowboard bindings are made up from a baseplate, a vertical support (highback) and a couple of adjustable straps.

The baseplate can be positioned on your board, normally at different widths and different angles to suit your stance on the board.

The highback is attached to the baseplate and fits up along the back of your boot. It is designed to help exert force on the board when you turn.

The straps are normally ratchet type affairs which you tighten across your boot to keep you firmly attached to the snowboard.

Buying snowboard bindings

The first thing you should check when buying snowboard bindings is that your boots fit! Check that boots can fit into them, that you can do the straps up and that the highbacks fit onto the boot.

You should also check that the bindings can be adjusted easily, that you can select lots of angles on the baseplate; that the straps are easy to tighten and loosen and that the highbacks can be adjusted.
Although your bindings wont last for ever it's worth getting a set that you can fine tune these settings as your confidence and experience increase.
